This week, our Panda Cubs have been exploring health and wellbeing through lots of sensory, physical and hands-on experiences designed especially for our youngest children.
We have been encouraging physical development through our baby fitness activities and soft play. The children had lots of opportunities to stretch, reach, roll, crawl and move their bodies in different ways, helping to build strength, coordination and confidence as they explore movement at their own pace.
Our tuff trays have been very busy too. The children explored a tooth-brushing activity, giving them an early introduction to healthy routines and helping them become familiar with toothbrushes through play.
We also enjoyed a lovely sensory painting activity in the tuff tray. The children explored the paint using their hands and fingers, noticing the different textures and marks they could make. Activities like this are a wonderful way for babies to develop their senses and begin to understand cause and effect.
Food exploration has also been an important part of our week. The children were given opportunities to safely explore different fruits, experiencing a range of tastes, textures, colours and smells. For our youngest children, these sensory experiences are an important part of becoming familiar with new foods and developing confidence around eating.
Our water tray was another favourite activity. We added lots of bubbles and encouraged the children to help wash our toys, while staff modelled simple routines such as washing hands and keeping things clean. The children enjoyed splashing, reaching and exploring the bubbles while beginning to experience these everyday routines through play.
Health and wellbeing for our Panda Cubs is all about helping them build positive early experiences around movement, food, hygiene and self-care in a gentle, playful and age-appropriate way.
It has been a lovely week of exploring, moving and discovering together.
