The Pandas

The Pandas are split into two rooms. The Panda Cubs are our youngest children (starting at 6 months) and transition into the Pandas at 18 months+. Creative and outdoor play are at the heart of our Panda rooms, providing daily opportunities for children to express themselves, develop fine motor skills, and explore the world around them.

Children have access to a variety of mark-making and messy play materials, including crayons, painting easels, playdough, clay, sand, mud, and water—encouraging sensory exploration and hands-on learning both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor learning plays a key role in their development, with activities such as water play, and mud kitchen experiences fostering curiosity and independence.

Positive interactions and communication help enhance vocabulary, speech, and listening skills, supporting children as they rapidly develop language and begin forming sentences. Child-led conversations, supported by practitioners, encourage critical thinking and awareness of past, present, and future concepts. Engaging with books, listening to stories, and exploring rhyming and rhythm are essential steps in early literacy, both inside the classroom and in outdoor learning environments.
